My first "apostasy" mission

yesterday was my first small attempt at "apostasy".

i thought i did a very good job of it myself.

i had some interesting results.. i tried on two people: my wife (the biggest, baddest jw you could ever come up against) and my mother (who used to be but has cooled in the past ten or twelve years or so).

I knew about the pyramidology and managed not to let it phase me enough to act. The odd pagan symbol from the past isn't going to stumble anyone who actually wants to believe in it.

Music recommendations for young man born-in

i'm just about to buy a cd or two for a born-in relative of mine.

he's expecting the cd's to be delivered to him.

do any of you have recommendations of music which might be good for a born-in to hear?

Is Genesis account just a myth?

there are many stories that make we wonder if anything akin to solid reasoning can prop up the bible's accounts of early life on earth.

but perhaps this scripture is a key:.

"these are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the lord god made the earth and the heavens, and every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the lord god had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

Comparison of the Torah with what science has shown becomes ludicrous when you know a little about genre. I recommend How to Read the Bible: History, Prophecy, Literature--Why Modern Readers Need to Know the Difference, and What It Means for Faith Today.

paragraph 19-21 are under the heading "fight against independant thinking".

the question box at the end of the article contains the question "what is an evidence of independent thinking, and what can help us to avoid it?

the clear answers from the paragraphs are that noting that "gods organization has made adjustments in the past, to point out their fallability is the result of "pride" and independent thinking can be avoided by remembering where you learned bible truths in the first place.

there were another 2,700 volunterers taking part in an art installation by renowned nude photographer spencer tunick.

not ideal weather for it, i have to say.

it may be midsummer's day, but standing bollock naked, up to my ankles in sea water in the driving rain it certainly didn't feel like it!

Ooo, that must've felt really cold.

I used to tell Witnesses occasionally that I thought we'd be naked in the new system. Natural enough, right? No more imperfection, no more shame, no more need to cover up. But some were amazingly shocked at the idea.

I would quite like the experience of being part of a naked crowd. Maybe someday.

And Jeff: you're not judging yourself against porn movies are you? Those guys weren't picked for their acting abilities, you know. :)

i am not a jew, btw, but a judeao-christian (well, that's what i consider myself), and i hope i have not posted in the wrong forum, if indeed i am allowed.

i am the lay minister and postulate deacon of the arian catholic church in worcestershire, uk and the surrounding region.

i am also a lay oblate novice in the arian catholic order of saint benedict of nursia (acosb).

If you go along, bear in mind that the majority of JW's are sincere and well-meaning, but grotesquely mislead. They may talk the talk, but belong to a cult and any decent research into their doctrines and literature will show this.
